We enjoyed a low key 4th of July – which was perfect. We had a typical 4th of July dinner – hamburgers, hotdogs, watermelon, corn on the cob and coleslaw, along with enjoying a ton of time in the pool, a game of crochet in the yard and of course ending the evening with sparklers. We decided not to fight the crowds to see fireworks since we weren’t sure the boys would really like them anyway….
On Friday the boys took a trip to the park and spent some more time in the pool. During nap time mom and I got to enjoy a little pampering with a pedicure and then we all got to enjoy one of our favorites for dinner….GiGi’s!! (It is a delicious pizza place – yum….makes my mouth water just thinking about it!) The plan had originally been to go to a baseball game Friday night – there is a AAA team that plays down the street from mom and dad but we decided against it because of the weather. Instead, we headed down to the parking lot when the game was in the 9th inning and watched the fireworks from the comfort of our car. Those of you that follow me or Stephen on Facebook may have seen a video of the fun we had waiting for that J For those of you that missed it….here it is!
Saturday the big boys (Stephen and dad) headed off for a game of golf while mom and I took the little boys on their very first boat ride!! We went on a dolphin adventure – essentially a double decker boat that took us out into the Gulf and drove around for a bit until they found dolphins – the boys had a BLAST! I actually think Mason said he was having “so much fun” before we even left the dock!! Lunch at Chick-fil-a and the whole afternoon in the pool finished up Saturday!
Sunday we visited our favorite waitress at Acropols (a small family owned greek restaurant that I’ve been going to since high school) followed by of course…..more time in the pool!! Now, the car is packed up and we are headed back to reality!
I can’t believe how well the boys are swimming!! Today they were diving to the bottom of the pool – with a little push down – to retrieve rings from the bottom, sliding down the slide on their tummy and swimming across the pool and jumping in and swimming to the steps – all without swimmies!! We have two little fish!
I am currently the passenger, sitting here enjoying the quiet (all three kids are asleep) and can’t stop thinking about all the fun we have had the past several weeks….of course I also can’t believe that reality is about to smack me in the face big time either!! I head back to work next Monday L As much as I love my job, as much as I miss my co-workers and for as long as I’ve been home (this week will make 6 months) I am not really ready to go back!! Though I really do believe that God did not wire me to be a stay at home mom I have really enjoyed not having the stress that being a working mom brings!
I have also realized over the past few weeks that I was not fully prepared for how much an infant was going to change our family dynamic…..I have always heard that the transition from one to two kids is really tough but the transition from two to three was much easier. Well, I incorrectly assumed that we would fall right into that – feeling very confident that since we already had two kids fairly well under control adding another munchkin to the mix would not make that much of a difference. HA!! Wow was I wrong!! I definitely did not give this little guy enough credit when it came to how much he was going to change our family!! It has been much harder than I imagined to find my new rhythm…..and something tells me that going back to work full time is not really going to help that any!! I keep asking myself – if I can’t find the time to clean toilets now, how am I ever going to find the time when I’m working full time?? There is your warning ladies and gentlemen….if you come to our house – there very well may be rings in our toilets!! I’m sure I’ll get there eventually….and I’m sure getting a full nights sleep with help me fire on all cylinders – here’s hoping that happens sooner rather than later!!
This week is scheduled to be a crazy one. Easton has a pediatrician appointment tomorrow (at the break of dawn!! Not sure what I was thinking when I made the 8:15 am appointment!!) and then has urology on Tuesday and Wednesday (testing Tuesday, doctor on Wednesday). Thursday we are scheduled to finally meet with our photographer to hopefully get some of the amazing pictures that she took ordered!! I’m going to be trying to make sure I have all my ducks in a row for next Monday and try to enjoy lots of snuggles with all my boys this week since reality is going to hit really hard in 7 days!!
Lots of prayers that mommy can keep track of where she is supposed to be and when this week and that doctor appointments all go well. Also, prayers for some additional changes that might be happening soon…more to come on that later. Hope everyone’s 4th was as fun as ours was!!
Love and hugs!
