Things are going really well - Even the doctors and nurses keep saying that they can't believe how well I seem to be doing! I'm feeling pretty good - especially since I just had a pretty major abdominal surgery! LIttle man is obviously back to his ornery self as well - the nurses are having to chase him around to try to get a pulse because he won't stay in one place long enough. :) That makes this mommy's heart happy for sure!!
Big events today - a shower, a coke and a walk!!
Got to take a shower today and let me tell you that was the BEST shower I have ever had in my entire life!! I literally felt like a new person!! I got to put on some of my own clothes and even put just a touch of make up on!!
Yes - a big event for the day was a coke - Those of you that know me well know that going 3 days without one was a big deal :) It was delicious and I enjoyed every sip!
Next big event was a walk - I got to take 1/2 a lap around the unit - It wasn't very far and I must be honest I was a little disappointed when I was very quickly back to my room but I'm being a good patient and so therefore I climbed back into bed like a good pregnant lady and am happy with what I was given!
My nurse today, Emily, said if I feel up to it later I might get to take a short ride around the halls in a wheelchair just to get out of the room a little and said tomorrow I can walk a FULL lap around the unit!! Watch out - things are getting crazy!! The doctor has been by twice today just to check in and I'm in the room where I'll be for the remainder of the say. None of us have totally figured out what this unit is for - but I haven't seen a lot of activity in the hallways and when I do see someone, their pregnant...that's pretty much all we've figured out so far :)
The food hasn't been bad...They have a menu that I get to order from which is nice - I can get whatever I feel like at the moment. Stephen and my mom have become very familiar with the hospital cafeteria and have overall said the food has been decent. Stephen is headed home in a few hours - Thanks Michael for being the airport shuttle for him today!! I know that the kids will be thrilled to see him tomorrow morning if they are awake before he leaves for work - or tomorrow afternoon when he gets home. We got to facetime with them last night - made me miss them but so nice to know that they have been in wonderful hands these past few days!! (Thanks grandma and grandpa Diehl!)
My days here are pretty busy....NOT!! So if anyone needs proof of life let me know - I would love to say hi via face time or Ichat :) Either way I will probably post another fabulous blog tomorrow about all the excitement that is likely to occur :)
Thank you all so much for the billions of facebook messages, texts and emails!! They have been such an encouragement to both Stephen and I. We appreciate your prayers so much and know that we would not all be doing as well as we are with them!! God is good and continue to make it very evident that we made the right decision!!
Prayers for a safe flight for Stephen tonight and continued recovery for me :)
Love and hugs
