So much fun has been stuffed into so few weeks!!
We spent a week down in Crescent Beach with the whole Diehl clan and had a blast. It was a week packed with way too much family togetherness but a ton of great memories and some great fun in the sun!! We spent a lot of time at the beach and the pool. We were so blessed with beautiful weather all week - and the boys got very used to getting up and changing straight from the pajamas to their bathing suits every day!! The cousins all have so much fun together - and despite the chaos it is so fun to watch!! The big kids even got to take the night off - we left the kiddos with Grandma and Grandpa and headed out for dinner and some adult conversation. It was wonderful!! It was a blast and I was exhausted when it was all over....felt like I needed a vacation to recover from vacation........
So, naturally we packed up the car at the condo and headed straight to my parents house in Clearwater. We surprised my dad for his birthday (along with my sister) and got to spend Father's Day down there too. Stephen had to fly home Sunday night for work and the boys and I stayed a few extra days to enjoy the pool and some more adventures. We went to the Florida aquarium and got to introduce Easton to lots of aunts and uncles. Then momma got brave and drove home - just me and three kids....The four hour trip took 5 1/2 hours - not bad!! We stopped for 2 potty breaks and to feed the little guy. I was pretty impressed with myself.
We've been home just long enough to get the suitcases unpacked and now it's time to head out again :) We hare headed back down to Clearwater for the 4th - taking full advantage of the fact that mommy isn't working and daddy's schedule is super flexible!! Check out the pictures page for the photos of the last few weeks!
Updates for Easton - he's a rockstar.....except when it comes to sleeping at night :/
Actually he is doing fine - just not as great as the boys were at his age - apparently I was pretty spoiled with two kids who were both consistently sleeping through the night at 9 weeks old....Being that Easton is 8 weeks tomorrow, I am pretty confident in saying that isn't happening with this guy :( Oh well...This too shall pass right? Don't they say one day I will look back and miss these days? Debatable at this point but I'll cling to that and hope for the best!
Easton had an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon last week.....
First of all, I love the fact that Easton's orthopedic doctor walks in, gives me a big hug, tells me I look great and insists on taking a picture of me and the little guy on his phone to send to his daughter (who I work with)....I love that this man thinks we are kinda cool :)
He took a look at Easton's feet and complimented me on "whatever I was doing" and instructed me to keep it up - Sorry buddy, that means mommy is going to have to keep taping your feet....Dr. Loveless says!! He looked at his hips and decided we better take an xray and an ultrasound to get a look at what was going on inside. When he looked at the xray and I saw the smile on his face I had a feeling God was at work again.....
Sure enough - this little man's hip has relocated!! If you remember, his left his was dislocated at birth (called Hip Dysplasia) but has relocated on it's own!! After looking at the ultrasound results Dr. Loveless decided that he does want to put Easton in a brace to help the joint develop a little more but assured me that the brace would not get in the way of my adventures. I had informed him that we are out and about quite a bit after spending 4 months stuck in the house on bed rest!! He said that the brace is something Easton can wear when we are home, and during naptime and night time....More on that later - we haven't been fitted yet :)
The other big news from orthopedics is that Dr. Loveless is pretty confident that Easton has active movement of his hamstrings and possibly some glut (butt) muscles that are working as well. To keep from boring you with all with an anatomy lesson let me just say this....hamstrings can be the difference between Easton using a wheelchair and walking as his primary form of mobility so it is a HUGE PRAISE that we have some working hamstrings and an awesome extra that we have some gluts as well!!
Dr. Loveless even made a point to say "This appointment COULD NOT HAVE GONE ANY BETTER!!" He said he was THRILLED with what he had seen and told Stephen and I that we had every reason to celebrate this weekend!!
Sigh - God is so good and continues to do amazing things through this precious boy.....the one who thinks that sleeping at night is totally overrated - it's good he is cute!!
So that's the update! We are loving every minute of summer, have been super busy (not that you should expect anything less from us) and got a report better than we could have even hoped for at orthopedics!! Looking forward to a few days hanging out with family for the 4th (one of my favorite holidays - I love fireworks). Urology appointment is next week.....based on the number of times I've been peed on when changing his diaper, I don't think we have any problem there.....but I'll update you next week!!
Thank you for all of the continued prayers! God's not done yet!!
Love and Hugs!
